TWHC Coaches Deliver Free Hockey to Local Secondary Schools
Tunbridge Wells Hockey Club is proud to highlight the work of our U13 coaching team, who have been delivering free hockey sessions to local secondary schools across Tunbridge Wells — giving more young people the chance to experience the sport.
From March through to November, during the school term, TWHC coaches volunteered their time to deliver hours and hours of fun, inclusive hockey to pupils who may not otherwise have had access to the game.
Across the programme:
Over 50 young people took part
Many were playing hockey for the first time
Confidence, skills and enjoyment grew week by week
The sessions focused on:
Learning through play
Confidence and teamwork
Enjoyment first, competition second
For many of the pupils involved, hockey was a completely new sport. By the end of the programme, several had not only developed a real love for the game but had also gone on to join Tunbridge Wells Hockey Club, continuing their hockey journey within the junior section.
This outreach work reflects TWHC’s wider commitment to:
Removing barriers to entry
Supporting schools with quality coaching
Creating clear school-to-club pathways
Bringing hockey to more children, in more places
The club would like to thank the U13 coaching team for their time, energy and commitment. This work sits at the heart of what the junior section is about — not just developing players, but growing the game and opening doors for the next generation.
