Fantastic Few Weeks for TW Flyerz...

Francis Bridgeman6 Oct 2019 - 10:37

... 6 players represent England at the EuroParahockey Champs in Antwerp, we train with Canada U21s and now we are shortlisted for another award…

August may be the off-season for some - but 6 of our Flyerz - Ellen, Frazer, Ollie, Seb, Skye and Tim represented the two England teams participating in the 12 team EHF Euro ParaHockey Championships in Antwerp, alongside the main Euros. They did themselves, TW Flyerz and their country proud as they finished first and second in their division. Almost as soon as they stepped off the Eurostar home, they were joining with the rest of our Flyerz for a fantastic morning training with the Canada U21s at Tonbridge School. Chris Hare has taken some wonderful photos of both events which are posted on the website and can be found here (Antwerp) and here (Canada U21s).

Huge thanks go to Hugh and his squad of young international players who spent such an inspirational session with our Flyerz - and we know that you all got as much out of the morning as we did.

There is also attached in the header to this article (just click on the photo) a fabulous video produced by the organisers from the Antwerp ParaHockey Championships about the event (and with many of our players featuring across the piece).

September was no less busy as a film crew came down to one of our sessions at Skinners' to film a video of our Flyerz in action for the Kent Sports KUDOS Awards, where TW Flyerz are into the final three. The videos for the three finalists will be shown to delegates at the Kent & Medway Everyday Active Conference 2019, on Tuesday 15 October where delegates will vote for their winner.

We also now have some of our Flyerz participating in (and most importantly enjoying) regular league hockey on a Saturday which is great to see, while a number of boys from Skinners' School have started working with our players and the coaching group on Sundays as we look to continue to broaden the engagement and involvement of the wider community in Flyerz.

We are sure that, whether or not we win on the day on the 15th October, the whole Club will be very proud of all our Flyerz have achieved and are continuing to achieve.

A huge thanks of course goes to the wonderful group of coaches (and to the parents of our players) who make all of this possible.
