Last minute Heartbreak for Wells

An ever improving Ladies 3rd Xl travelled to Gillingham to try and grab their first points of the season.
Anchorians always a tough team with some very strong forwards started brightly but Wells kept them at bay for some time.
A scrappy goal which appeared to be kicked into the D and then finished by Anchorians left Wells 1-0 down until a fabulous break away featuring Carolyn Pollard, Sarah Howkins and Dannii Golan and finished by Annalise Harris brought the scores level.
Half time came and went in a flash and the second half spaces were opening up for both sides.
Wells absorbed huge amounts of pressure and were resilient breaking away several times and were rewarded when Viv Smiley put a superbly weighted pass through to Emma Beamish who calmly slotted the ball past an onrushing keeper, 2-1 to Wells.

The game ebbed and flowed with Annalise Harris tireless in midfield supported by Danni Golan and Shelly Lloyd. Helen Barnes was solid in defence with Kira Boulton and Hannah Buchanan either side.
Anchorians again pulled level 2-2 going into the last 5 minutes when they brought on their super striker who was incredibly effective at lashing the ball goalwards from short corners with Chris Poth ever-reliable in goal saving numerous shots and Helen Barnes kicking one off the line (outside the line of the goal of course) for another short corner. Hannah Buchanan put her body on the line running 1 and after 3 body impacts finally, Anchorians scored a 3rd goal with only 1 minute left on the clock.

With no time to respond and players hobbling off injured, Wells lost the match 3-2 but a huge improvement in actual performance leaves the side positive going forwards.
Man of the Match was Annalise Harris and the DotD went to Viv Smiley for making the best pass of the match with Amada Wren's stick!
