East Grinstead very kindly hosted TWHC for two U13G friendly matches this afternoon.
Match 1 was a very even contest, both teams creating a number of good chances and both goalkeepers making a number of key saves before a breakthrough when eventually East Grinstead took one of their chances and quickly followed that up with a second goal. At this point the TWHC girls did not let their heads go down and rallied showing amazing character starting to create opportunities through some good combinations. This pressure finally paid off and Mia L slotted home after a nice team move. Buoyed by the goal the girls started to pressurise East Grinstead and another quick attack found Mia again who again shot past the goalkeeper to score. A really nice game of hockey played by both teams.
Match 2 was again a close game that followed a similar pattern to the first with East Grinstead deservedly taking a two goal lead and despite some late pressure from the TWHC girls it stayed that way until full time. After the game the girls were quick to recognise that East Grinstead were that little bit better at keeping their shape and staying composed on the ball, using the width, as opposed to trying to attack through the middle.
All the coaches, Michael, Emma, Jen, and Martin are extremely proud of the girls and their performances today, well done girls !
