U13 girls away v Sevenoaks HC

TW U13A beat Sevenoaks 6-1

Delighted to have made it back from the airport in time for the start of this match; thank you so much to Emma and Adam for stepping in.
The girls played some super hockey today; following on from last week's inter-club match; high intensity, ball speed and confident transitioning around the back.

The first half started well, with continued pressure from Wells; the Sevenoaks defence and GK having to work hard. Lots of ball possession and play in the D but no upgrading to pc's; something we will work on in the next few weeks. The pressure kept piling on and after a scramble in front of goal, Betsy was able to slot the ball in the back of the net for our first goal. A great start.

We continued to pile on the pressure, some great passes from the midfield through to our forwards, and an awesome work rate by Mia upfront. Betsy found herself in another cracking position in front of goal and scored her 2nd of the match; 2-0.

Lottie dominated as our free defender, stepping up in front of the Sevenoaks attack, our defence worked tirelessly and marked well to prevent any prolonged attacks.

A slow start after half time, with Sevenoaks responding well to going behind, found 3 of their players unmarked in our D, the inevitable happened and they got a goal back. The TWHC girls did not let their heads go down, and in fact played some of their best hockey in the 2nd half. Both Charley and Anjalie were able to use their pace and speed on the ball in midfield to cause a nuisance to the opposition's defence and our Charley was able to score a fab backhand goal to get us to 3-1.

We continued to dominate and pile on more pressure; numerous attacks, many penalty corner chances and another backhand goal was scored; this time by Anjalie. Betsy was able to score her hat-trick with a great finish after a lovely pass in from the left wing, and Daisy slotted in the final goal of the match after some lovely play from the right hand side.

Thank you girls for playing such great hockey, putting into practice all we talk about and for working as a team. Every single player contributed to this win today, wonderful team work and a well deserved results. Emma, Adam and I were very proud. Thanks to the parents for your amazing support, we really do appreciate it!
