TWHC U13 girls v Sevenoaks

The girls started well, immediately from the push back Mia managed to intercept the ball and we had our first attack of the game. Many more attacks followed, with multiple short corners but we were not hungry enough to take the shot on in the D to convert.

Consistent pressure and great work from our midfield and forwards was rewarded with a penalty corner; our first shot was saved but the rebound shot ended up in the back of the goal, 1-0 to T Wells. Our second goal was a wonderfully worked short corner, with a pass back to our injector, before a fabulous finish in the back of the net from Charley.

A well needed half time break, full pitch matches testing our fitness, a quick half time chat and the girls were determined to score more goals.
The Sevenoaks GK had to take a quick break due to injury, and Sevenoaks stayed focused and ended up with a good break away attack, with Emilee making some fantastic saves. Excellent tackling from both Lottie and Viv soon returned the ball back into our attacking half and a great pass from Erin B into Anjalie led to our 3rd goal of the game.

Excellent passing all around the pitch continued, Anna's tackling and work rate was outstanding and gave little chance to the opposition, great tackling and passing from Erin S and Niamh who had their debuts for this team, well done!

Balls were being put through from midfield, (special note to Madeleine who controlled her side of the pitch brilliantly) onto our lead runners and soon we slotted in our 4th goal; Betsy positioned herself perfectly for the finish.

Not long after this, a nice run from midfield straight into the D by Anjalie secured our 5th goal and our final goal was scored by Thea, who had a great game at midfield and was able to put into practice the open handed slap we have been training all season; absolutely awesome!

Coaching these girls was a joy today, what we have been working on in training was put into practice, thank you all, you should be very proud of your performance.
