Girls u13 match against Reigate Priory

We were 14 seconds away from getting a well deserved draw.

Another match and another good performance by the team, but no reward in the way of the result. However,...

They really are growing into a team where people are coming together and working as one. It's great to see. Many of the girls have taken big steps in improving their game. There isn't one person on this team that hasn't improved this season.

Reigate had some very good players one girl at the back was very impressive, but we gave her plenty of things to think about with a pressing up front. On many occasions we worked in tandem to apply that pressure. Those things i haven't coached so it was great to see that they were thinking it was a good idea. It's brilliant.

Our defence is becoming more solid and our marking was better this week. Again things we have learnt from the previous game that we add into the next.

The back line made up of Alice, Bruna, Marijke and Isabela had strong games with their strong tackling and providing good passes to the midfield. They were ably supported by Ella in goal who again made some fine saves.

The Midfield worked well with the defence and the attack. And often moved the ball well with inventive passes and in some cases with cute skilful dribbles. We are learning when to take our chance to drive forward or when to lay off the pass. They support each other well and created a number of opportunities in the oppositions D. In one of these passages of play some great skill between Elena initially and then Ava set up Liv who tucked the ball away well leaving the keeper no chance. She's becoming quite the goalscorer!!

The energy that we are showing was evident across the team, it's showing that they are fighting for each other. It's great to see. What wasn't great was that Reigate managed to claw themselves back into the game. They equalised when it was a bit of a melee in our D and similarly with only 14 seconds to go in the game they got their second. Gut wrenching for the girls you could see how disappointed they were when they came off the pitch. BUT, we go again into the next game with hope in the knowledge that things are happening with this team and its good. Keep going girls.
