Games summaries

Well I hope you have all managed to get back from Canterbury. I'm not sure we could have a had a fixture on a worse day based upon it's location. For those of you at the Sevenoaks fixture you can count yourself very lucky.

The two games that we played could not have been more different. I appreciate that Canterbury were probably a stronger side, but the difference in how we played and expressed ourselves in the second game is a template for us to move forward.

Firstly, it was a welcome to Ella V M for her first game in goal for us in the second game. Whilst she wasn't as busy as Ella E in the first game they both kept very well and it fantastic to know now that we have goalkeepers that we can call on. I'm sure the girls appreciate it massively knowing we have two goalkeepers.

Results:
Canterbury 5 (or was it 6, not sure) TWHC 0
Sevenoaks 3 TWHC 2

The Canterbury game I feel we can park. We were disjointed across the pitch and maybe because of their strength and us not being able to build any momentum in the game in meant the result was a fair reflection on the balance of play.

The second game was a revelation, seems weird to say it when you have lost but what a difference. Every girl played with confidence and a great deal of endeavour. We strung together numerous passages of play that really troubled the opposition. To go three nil down after just losing heavily in the previous game we could have easily capitulated, instead we were galvanised. The midfield began to dominate and we realised that by keeping the wall wise and working in the areas that Sevenoaks weren't covering we could exploit this. It was something we discussed at half-time which the girls lead when evaluating the first half. It was great to hear. Sure enough we started to dominate the second half and it wasn't a surprise that we pulled the two goals back that we did, we were unlucky not to have made in 3-3 at the very end of the game.

I didn't want to pick out any girl in particular because it was as a collective that they turned it round. I was so proud of them i found that I was quiet emotional at the end it, silly old fool.

I am however, going to pick out one person and that was Luna, she did have a great second game, but her short corner goal i'm sure will be one that she will never forget. It was simply a 'Screamer'. No goalkeeper in this league and the leagues above would have got that.
