Hockey fun in the sun

Well done to all the boys at the county tournament today. There was some tough opposition out there.

Both the Tigers and Panthers showed great team spirit and commitment.
They all gave 100% and the coaches are all very proud of their efforts.

Max made some great saves in goal for both the Tigers and Panthers.

Ralph was a tower of strength at the back. Charlie S was solid in defence and Alec’s confidence and tackling grew as the games went on.
Xander provided stability in midfield and was our top scorer of the day. Milo showed just how effective a free hit taken out wide can be. Jack worked hard in midfield. Rafe worked his socks off and linked up well with Charlie W who showed off some good skills to get past the defence.
The boys created a number of goal scoring opportunities with a couple just narrowly missing.

The Tigers went from strength to strength and their confidence grew as the games went on.

For the Panthers , Oscar put in some strong tackles and found some good passes. Alex was very hard to beat and covered well. Henry communicated well and continued to demonstrate his defensive skills.

Panthers defended penalty corners very well given this was the first time they’d participated in them. It was a shame we didn’t get to try our attacking corner in the last game.

Joshua worked hard in midfield tracking back down the line. William made good runs forward and nearly created some chances. Aubyn’s confidence grew as the games carried on and showed good positional awareness. Ned’s speed got the better of the opposition and he was unlucky not to score. Senna scored a great goal up front and put good pressure on the opposition.

The results for the Panthers didn’t go their way today but the quality of the hockey improved as the matches went on and they certainly created a few chances. They had good patches of linking up play and were unlucky not to score more goals.

It’s great to see how far the boys have come over the season. Their team spirit really shone through and they never gave up.

There is still more work to do but the enthusiasm and effort but in by all was evident today. They should be proud of their efforts.
