So close for TW Panthers

U12 Boys – Cheetahs, Tigers and Panthers

Firstly, an enormous thank you to the coaches, Matt, Kira, Murray and Jen ably supported by Adam. Your commitment and dedication was evident ensuring that the boys had a great afternoon at the Kent Championships despite the freezing weather conditions.

TW Cheetahs (U11 Boys) – Kira will upload a more detailed report, but they came joint 4th in the Development Tournament. Well done.

TW Tigers

The Tigers put in a huge amount of effort and never stopped running but found some very strong opposition teams in their group and when games were more even could not convert their chances. A special mention for Alex S who played in goal for the boys and excelled.

Well done to Alex S, Woody, George P, Harry F, George J, Abhi, Thomas G and Team Captain Austin

TW Panthers

The Panthers had an amazing day and were so close to winning the tournament. Their results were:

4 – 1 win v Sevenoaks B (Hamish 2, Freddie, Oscar)
1 – 0 win v Canterbury (Hamish)
1 – 0 win v Ashford (Hamish)
3 – 0 win v Knole Park (Hamish 2, Oscar)
2 – 0 win v Folkestone (Zac, Hamish)
2 – 0 win v Marden B (Hamish 2)
0 – 2 loss v Marden A
0 – 0 draw v Sevenoaks A

I cannot praise the boys enough for their performances on Sunday ! The results speak for themselves, they started with six wins in a row (never easy to do in tournament hockey) including playing some exceptional hockey and scoring lovely goals. They then faced their sternest test against Marden A (the eventual winners), and ironically dominated the game playing textbook hockey transferring the ball using the pivot and showing amazing skills, but they could just not covert one of their chances before Marden caught them on the break to take the lead. More pressure ensued but again another Marden attack led to their second goal. Luckily, the boys did not have time to dwell on this result because they then played Sevenoaks A straight away and despite putting some early pressure on Sevenoaks the boys were on the back foot for the majority of the match managing to dig in and earn a draw under immense pressure thanks in the main to a man of the match goalkeeping performance by James C.

A special mention for Hamish who scored 9 goals including an absolute worldy against Folkestone undercutting an unstoppable shot into the roof of the net on the run.

A huge team effort meant that the boys finished join top on points with Marden A, missing out on winning the tournament by goal difference. Any disappointment quickly evaporated when the boys received their silver medals from GB & England player Ali Brogden before then celebrating an epic afternoon with their parents and coaches.

Massive congratulations to James C, Charley, Jamie S, Oscar, Freddie M, Hamish, Henry B, Max P and Team Captain Zac R.

As always, a big thank you all the parents for your support and braving the baltic weather conditions.
