TWHC U14 Girls v Brighton

TWHC U14 girls hosted Brighton on a lovely sunny morning at Kent College in Pembury and the match did not disappoint. Both sides played some excellent hockey in the first half, lots of good possession, using the width and confident midfield play. This led to numerous chances for both sides before TWHC finally broke the deadlock with a fine move finished well. The second goal for TWHC followed quickly with any fine move again.

Brighton rallied and quickly created numerous chances with one finished beautifully by their most dangerous player. TWHC were thankful to Lucie to go in leading 2 -1 after a truly world class reflex save from an undercut shot tipping it over the bar.

At half-time we talked as a group about how we should press, front marking to cut off passes to key players and being more aggressive in the press. The girls took this all on board and implemented it perfectly scoring three goals very quickly to lead 5 – 1 with the pick from Bea who smashed in an unstoppable shot from the top of the ‘D’.

Brighton again rallied well after this pressure and conceding three goals quickly and bounced back showing great character to score two late goals albeit the clock was against them with TWHC running out 5 – 4 winners in an excellent game played in great spirit.
