3 more points required

An away fixture, challenging conditions and yet another team of experienced men to play against - we gave the opposition respect beforehand but once the game was underway the Boys set the tempo and standard and never took their foot off the gas. Scott had one save to make and this was a kicked clearance, we did not concede a single corner (just as well as we had forgotten the masks !) and for almost 60 mins of the game I joined elder statesman Nick at the back to view the very impressive hockey being played by the Boys in front of me.
Mack scored an impressive hat-trick (which puts him on 17 for the season and a natural goalscorer if ever I saw one): his best drag flick to date to open the scoring, a penalty flick (following fine work from Ian Fraser) and a reverse hit. Zach created a number of chances for himself from his advanced midfield position and deserved his goal and given the state of his celebration, Tommy was very pleased to score from a composed slap in the circle. Old man Judge got one but more fortuitous as it crept in through the GK's legs.
Everybody played well and in an increasingly common theme, the opposition were very complementary about our Boys and the way in which they play their hockey. Three more points required next Saturday to win the League !
