To and fro'

The Monarchs won their fourth league game and learnt a valuable lesson along the way against a seasoned Sevenoaks side. An outstanding first half saw us dominate the game and go into the break 3-0 up. The goals were particularly pleasing with a real quality of passing where Sevenoaks were given no opportunity to touch the ball, let alone make a tackle. Mack Crawford was the recipient of this great team work (with Sam.J & Mattie.W providing assists) scoring a hat-trick including a great reverse strike. The opening 10 mins of the 2nd half saw us conceded 2 quick goals - a lack of focused concentration and proper man to man marking. However the boys have improved their mental strength and we went to a half court system to ensure we regained our shape. Slowly our passing game was re-implemented and the boys' behaviour was exemplary as they faced some interesting umpiring decisions. For the first time in this writer's career a new umpire was inserted into the game after half-time only to be subbed back off by Sevenoaks themselves to ensure the game wasn't ruined for all parties !! We scored to go 4-2 up, conceded again before finally seeing the game off by scoring again. The team spirit is growing as is the momentum of this very young and talented side. Congratulation to Hal, Jake & Ethan for making their Monarchs debut making it 15 played aged 14 or under who have played for us in this short season.
