Monarchs make mark in senior hockey with win at Folkestone

The new Monarchs Junior Development side travelled to Folkestone for their first league game. A 3-2 win was fully deserved and reflected the ability of the eight boys selected (aged 14) who played with real skill and application on their step up to Men's Hockey. Two of them scored (Sam Judge & Mack Crawford) and Toby, Tommy, Sam.H, George, Zach & Angus demonstrated that they form an exciting future for TWHC moving forward (with Zach gaining Man of the Match honours). Thanks to the older heads who guided them through - Nick, Scott, Francis & Simon - and for helping them play with the right attitude, the right style (ball retention and transferring the ball at pace) and with the appropriate respect for the umpires. I've been waiting to play alongside this talented bunch for 2-3 years now and it was worth the wait - upwards and onwards !
