Still top after 2-2 draw

After a disappointing morning watching the rugby, the 3s faced the rain and howling gales against an unbeaten Ashford side.

Great to see Harry and Josh returning after extended absences - both will stellar performances. Felix making his debut up from the monarchs also proved he could easily mix it with the best of us and had a brilliant game, constantly pressuring the Ashford defenders and with a great attitude.

It was Ashford who took the lead, with a break and shot across the keeper somehow bundled in at the far post despite two defenders marking the attacker. Ben E equally got a scrappy goal, as a shot near the post was somehow turned in off the inside of the keeper's kicker. Ashford were always dangerous on the break and got another with a counter-attack, before Billy P hit one low into the corner from a short corner to draw things level at half-time 2-2.

Somehow there were no goals in the second half, despite a huge number of short corners for Ashford and a number of saves by the Ashford keeper. Martin thought we'd won it at one point, but started celebrating a tad too early as the ball was saved on the line...

Still time for the captain to take a ball to the eye - luckily on pitch medic Ben E, Ambulance Driver Harry & Mat and some lovely NHS staff at Pembury had me patched up and home for tea. No team pic so grabbed an old one. 5 teams in 2nd place behind us, we'll push for a win next week.

Thanks again to Marvo and Chris who had to umpire in horrendous conditions and did a great job as ever #noumpiresnogame
