Ladies 1st XI held on tight for the draw!

Tunbridge Wells Ladies 1st XI had a tough game this weekend and their opposition Bromley and Beckenham 2nd XI came out fighting. The home team tried to settle into the game but a quick break from BromBeck lead to an impressive goal in the first quarter. However, Tunbridge Wells refused to drop their heads, they kept things simple by transferring the ball and passing nicely down the pitch. Linking up with one another in some skilful play. Ollie Colegate played well in the middle of the pitch and enabled the team to distribute from side to side. This consistently good play led to Immy Jenner balancing out the score sheet with an excellent goal from a short corner the team fought hard to get.

Half time came and although it was a miserable day the team had great support on the side-lines and after a motivating team talk from Lisa Boldrini, they ran back on to the pitch raring to go! The girls managed to upgrade their play leading to many short corners but unfortunately the defending team were strong in defence, and we were unable to convert them. Amelia Honavar also had an excellent game and used her attacking skills to take on the goalie 1 on 1 leading to her scoring a well-deserved goal. Both sides played very well, and it was an evenly matched, exciting game of hockey to be a part of and watch. The opposition didn’t give up and towards the end of the game managed to score another goal. A draw seemed a fair ending to a tough, rainy game and both teams were happy to still get 1 point in the bag.
