Tunbridge Wells 1s came out fighting this Saturday after a disappointing defeat last weekend. They had a strong team who were all keen to get a win on the board. This enthusiastic start did well for the girls who were able to get an early lead with a goal scored from their first short corner! Lots of communication throughout the game made it easier for the team to link up with each other and show some great set play especially down the right-hand side of the pitch. Our next goal came from just that with Ele and Harrie passing between themselves, eliminating the opposition as they went. Their fast attack led to another well-deserved goal.
Following half time, however, we slipped into old habits and made a few careless errors – luckily with Ali in goal making some great saves and an excellent 1 on 1 win, swiping out the attacking forward we regained our momentum and bounced back with Ele, scoring our third goal from another short corner. Croystx did well to channel us down the left-hand side of the pitch and preventing us from using the space on the right.
The girls did excellently to hold them off however and keep going to give us a three-nil win, congratulations to them all especially Harrie who was our ‘man of the match’ for the second week running!
It was lovely to play our first home game of the season and thank you to everyone who came to support us!
