TWHC Mens 1s Vs Southgate Mens 2s

Mens 1s Vs Southgate 2s - the clash of the coaches

The men's 1s commenced on a long journey around the M25 towards north London to play Southgate 2s managed by our old coach, Chris Pearce.

The game started at high intensities within our new pressing system, forwards and midfielders winning the ball high up the pitch on multiple occasions. The first goal came from a swift move between the midfield and forwards, Bailey playing a pass through to Huntley which then assisted Dom at the back post for an easy tap in.

Southgate M2s tried to get further up the pitch but the Tunbridge Wells defence stood strong. A lovely finish from our player coach Sam George saw a tomahawk into the top right hand corner, even the goalie didn't move.

After quarter 1, our press changed into a more aggressive one, winning the ball high and wide. The 3rd goal came from a trade mark Connor Poulain drag flick, continuing his fine form from the end of the season. Another goal came from skipper, Russell, with a back post volley into the goal.

Within the first 30 seconds after half time, the forwards won the ball and with an acute angle reverse, new signing Charlie cable caressed the ball into the bottom corner.

The ruthlessness infront of goal continued with a great solo goal by Bailey and another acute finish by James Huntley, to add the 6th and 7th goal respectively.

Defensive pride was the aim in the last quarter of the game with some very strong defending from our half backs; Dan, Kyle and Harry and midfielders, Aaron, Finn page and new signing Sam (sushi) Houldsworth.

Can't say much about our goal keeper, Matt. Apart from a 50 yard pass (yes 50 yards straight to a forward) he barely touched the ball! Just showing the strength of our defence.

A brilliant pre-season start for the M1s, winning 7-0 (with 7 different scorers!). Even our old coach Chris Pearce was incredibly pleased with our performance.

Next week, we travel away to St. Alban's for another pre-season friendly, looking to continue our positive start to the season.
