St Albans 3-4 Tunbridge Wells

The first eleven made the, surprisingly, pain free journey around the M25 this Saturday to take on St Albans at Oaklands College.

Taking on a side from the National Midlands Conference at 3pm in searing 30 degree heat, Tunbridge Wells would need to be at their best to take something from the game.

The hosts started strongly, with prolonged spells of purposeful possession but good defensive work from Wells meant chances were limited.

Soon after, the game settled and Wells took the lead through Aaron Leadbeater. A clean finish from the vice captain arriving late into the circle.

St Albans manage to equalise shortly after and the sides headed into the break at 1-1.

The start of the third quarter saw Tunbridge Wells come out with real purpose. Excellent attacking play from Sam George, Dom Moore and Charlie Cable stretching the opposition defence.

Not long after half time a smart carry from George created space for the overlapping Leadbeater to round the keeper and add his second of the game.

A penalty corner goal from Connor Poulain followed soon after, before Bailey Wright rounded off the Tunbridge Wells scoring. Wright finishing well after a clever ball from Kyle Mathieson.

Despite 2 late goals of the home side, Tunbridge Wells were good value for their victory after a strong second half display.

Wells travel to East Grinstead for the final friendly next week.
