A great effort by everybody against tough opposition

Upon arrival, a little late on my part, (sorry all) it was quite apparent that there were no u11's teams apart from ourselves. Each team had a goalkeeper and in some instances girls that were taller than their coaches and possibly the umpire!!

However, the girls were not put off by the prospect and on so many occasions seemed to actually relish the challenge. I was immensely proud of them.

Game Summary

TWHC Magic
Marden u12 A team 4 vs TWHC 0
Herne Bay u12 1 vs TWHC 1
Old Williamsonians u12 2 vs TWHC 2
Marden u12 B team 2 vs TWHC 2

The first game was a great indicator and benchmark of what we need to work on over the next 12 months. They were a strong opposition that managed to feed off our mistakes , but equally through their own strengths and skill. Bertie pulled off some great saves to keep the score down, whilst at the other end I don't think we had a shot at goal. That didn't put the girls off because for the next three games we were competitive and we probably had enough chances to win them. That perhaps would of done the opposition a disservice, but the fact that we could of won was great to see. For me as a coach it highlighted to me things that we need to work on. So it was a good lesson to have. We can build from this.

It would be hard to go through all the great performances, but a special mention for Cecily who played with great endeavour and with a lot of skill. She laid on a great pass to Safi who scored a great goal. Probably the best one that I saw through our four games.

Keep your heads up girls we will be better next year and stronger.

TW Wizards

What an incredible effort from the Wizards. Despite being the only team without a goalie, and having to compete against teams all in the age group above (under 12s), they did brilliantly.
We drew one and lost three, but the girls never lost their determination and even managed to nail a fantastic goal (set up by Claudia and scored by Amelie) in the last game.
The umpire and organiser singled them out for praise at the end of the tournament because he was so impressed by their strong defence (fabulous goal saving by Juliette and Luna), and the fact that they continued to fight until the end. That was a proud moment; just watch out for us next year when we are back there a year older and a bit taller!!

Well done girls.
