We were very saddened to hear of the death of former TWHC member Andy Whitaker earlier this week.

Andy and his family were a big part of life at Tunbridge Wells Hockey Club for many years. Andy most recently served as Club Treasurer and coached our Women’s 2nd XI, having initially become involved in coaching when his daughter Georgia started playing at the club.

His wife Janet was also very much at the heart of TWHC, captaining the Women’s 2nd XI and serving as Club Secretary, while Georgia progressed through the club and went on to earn junior England representation.

The family moved their hockey to Sevenoaks a few years ago, where Andy became a familiar and much-valued umpire, but there are many at TWHC who will remember Andy and the whole family with fondness.

Our thoughts and condolences are with Janet, Georgia and Jack, and all Andy’s family and friends.
