Unfortunately we travelled to Holcombe with a weakened side with several injuries and lack of availability taking their toll. This was not what we wanted against the side who, thanks to us nicking points from Anchorians, were now the new league leaders. Despite this we started well taking an early lead as a nice interchange between James, Sam & Freddie led to a simple tap in for Seb.
From there on in, Holcombe slowly took control with simple movement off the ball and a quality of medium to long passes. By half time it was 3-1 with little that Gus Crawford could so in between the sticks to stop the onslaught. A gutsy effort saw us only concede a further 2 goals in the second half.
No complaints and special mentions to Tom Hunt who performed well in his 2nd XI debut and to Freddie Hoare who was a very effective stand-in skipper for the day. We face similar availability issues next week but will always aim to compete !
