Back to it with a win

A game that reflected the need to persevere with the right style of play. We gained 2 players from the 1st squad - Bailey & Dom - and both added professionalism and a great attitude. For the first 5 mins Gore Court barely got a stick on the ball as we played beautiful transition hockey. How, may you ask, were we 2-0 down 5 mins later. One short corner that deflected off no.1 runner's stick and the 2nd goal, a simple counter attacking move.
However, our commitment to the game plan didn't falter and by half time we were leading 3-2, Tim Sylvester finishing a good team move after probing by Bailey and concerted team pressure leading to 2 short corners which were both converted with a good old smash from the top of the D (hitting the ball is too underrated these days !).
The second half saw us put 3 more goals away with the only blot being another short corner goal being conceded. Two of our goals were scored in sweeping moves from back to front with multiple touches but none from Gore Court. Our continual movement and transition frustrated Gore Court who became quite feisty which was all part of the contest. The scorers were Max, Freddie and a reverse tomahawk collector's item from George. Everyone played well with Sam and Seb demonstrating their ability that has led both to receiving selection to the Kent U17 county side - well deserved and well done !
