3 points gained against the top of the table side

Our performances in recent weeks have been strong even if the score-lines haven't reflected this. We were up against Sevenoaks, 8 games unbeaten and sitting at the top of our league. Another direct and strong side, with a great forward line full of running. The first half was a goal-fest - three times we went behind and three times we equalised within 5 minutes.
Our goals - so pleased for Zach Olette to get his first goal, an overlap from right half and an old school hit from the top of the D. A just reward for Zach, who has really improved recently and has added great game-craft to his undoubted talent. The second, also old school, a direct smash from a short corner from a very old man who had been culpable for Sevenoaks first goal. The third, a lovely through the legs deflection from Freddy Hoare who had received the ball at considerable speed from Tim.S.
The midfield of Hare, Hemsley, Hoare & Junior Judge were beginning to get on top and control possession for the remainder of the half and feed our forward line of Seb, Max & Tim.
The second half was even and ebbed and flowed until we scored from a short corner breakdown with David Hemsley finishing off from 2 yards after a very intelligent pass from Freddie. In truth, it was then backs to the wall for the last 10 as Sevenoaks threw the kitchen sink at us. The defence of Ben, Luke, Zach, Hugh and an old age pensioner were resolute and marked and tackled tenaciously. However the real star was skipper and goalkeeper Matt Day - key saves, real bravery and a big presence - which got us over the line, he was a deserved man of the match.
The result throws us back into league contention being only 4pts from first. Keep on keeping on as a wise old man once said.....
