Kent Open League Premier A
The Men’s Vets XI comprises (largely) the Club’s younger veterans. The team’s focus is on enjoying our hockey, the conviviality of our own clubhouse and the hospitality of our opposition.
That said, the team is competitive and plays a decent standard of hockey (albeit at a slightly slower pace!) and play alongside our 3rd XI in Kent Open League - Premier A following last season's promotion. This also means that the side is a further ideal learning ground for a couple of our juniors at any time who are progressing up the Club.
A number of the team first played hockey together some 25-30 odd years ago, many have played at high levels either with TWHC or elsewhere and, in the last few years, the side has been very successful in luring back to hockey a number of players who had been absent from the game for a while.
Attending training is not required, being available every week is likewise not an essential, though desirable – players who play a first handful of games in one season tend simply to want to play more the following season as they enjoy it so much.
We are therefore an ideal team for those senior pros looking to return to hockey as well as a place where younger and developing players are welcome and can gain valuable insight and support from wise old heads.
We are also probably the only team in the English Hockey league sponsored by a charity-supporting, children’s book writing dog – Lottie the Pointer! Thank you Lottie.
