Development of hockey for all ages and abilities

About the Juniors

The club has a thriving junior section – with more than 18 teams, and we have the ClubsFirst Accreditation from England Hockey which recognises the quality and depth of the club, especially at junior level. Coaching is held on Sunday mornings on the astros at Tonbridge School, and occasionally at Hawkenbury; the times and locations vary so you need to check on the training/teamsheet each week. There are also matches and tournaments, which are played throughout the season.

Parental consent forms must be filled in before you can come to training; the parental consent form is now a part of the membership form.

Membership and Waiting List

Please Note - we have heavy demand for places in girls age groups from school year 5 to 7. Please do not just turn up at a training session..

Pre-Season Letter

Our Pre-season letter contains a copious amount of information about our plans for the season

We will be entering teams at U16 and U14 for both boys and girls in Kent leagues and EH Cup, and for girls in the Home Counties leagues; U12 and U10 will play in monthly triangular tournaments. See the fixture list for the junior section; further details of junior fixtures will be updated as they emerge.

Coaching is generally in groups: U16/15 boys, U16/15 girls, U14/13 boys, U14/13 girls, U12/11 boys, U12/11 girls and U10/9/8/7 boys & girls. The basis of the groups is the age at 1st September 2017. Some of these groups may be combined for a session depending on numbers and pitch allocations.

Coaching will generally be at Tonbridge School but occasionally at Hawkenbury (and possibly the Nevill) and organised in two sessions: 9.30 to 10.45 or 10.45 to 12.00. Times will be sent out with the weekly team sheet . Please check times and locations every week because they are subject to change

Parental consent forms must be completed before you can participate.

We do not run U18 teams for Boys and Girls; but encourage them to play for senior teams on Saturdays. Training for these groups is not on Sundays but at the Club’s senior mid-week training sessions (see information on men's and ladies' training).

You can contact the club's junior section co-ordinator for more information on junior training.

Training for juniors (U16 and below) is on Sunday mornings, mostly on the three Tonbridge School astros. See Juniors Training for more detail. Time vary each week and are posted on the junior teamsheet. Training will resume on 6th September for U13 and older; and on 13th September for everybody.

David Judge and Ben Allbery run an Academy for invited juniors in the U13/U14/U15 group: Kent College Pembury on Wednesday evening at 6.30pm. Please talk to you team coach if you would like to be involved.

Stop Press

There are often changes to training and match arrangements after the teamsheet has been posted, especially when there is inclement weather. Any changes will be posted on the website on the training schedule/teamsheet page.

Calling all Parents

I am always interested to hear from parents who are prepared to help, either with admin, coaching or umpiring and the club will fund training courses for umpires and coaches who are prepared to commit time to the club. It doesn't have to be a huge commitment. Could anybody interested please contact the junior co-ordinator

The England Hockey Single System and Development Centres - South West Kent DC

TWHC runs the local junior development centre in partnership with Sevenoaks Hockey Club. The JDCs are part of this single system and are the lowest step on the ladder towards representative hockey (county, regional, national etc). The JDC runs from September to November on midweek evenings at Tonbridge School. For more information speak to Alec.
